How to film your pet and your reaction at the same time
By Con, founder of Music Wide Selfie · Updated 22 October 2026
Short answerOn iPhones that support recording two cameras at once, use an app with dual-camera recording: the back camera on your pet, the front camera on you. Otherwise, use two phones and line them up in an editor with a clap.
Dual-camera recording
iPhones with an A12 chip or newer (iPhone XS, XR and later) support multi-camera capture in apps built for it. You get your pet and your face in one take.
Two-phone method
- Set one phone on your pet, one on you.
- Start both recording.
- Clap once on camera.
- Line up both clips by the clap in an editor.
Pet-friendly tips
- Get down to your pet’s eye level.
- Use treats or toys just behind the phone to get them looking.
- Short sessions; pets lose interest fast.
- Keep it fun and safe for the animal.
Questions
Do I need special gear?
